Reason #9 to have a ball at the Sustain-A-Ball: DETER WAREHOUSES & TRUCK TRAFFIC

Why should you join us at the RenewLV’s 2017 Sustain-a-Ball on June 17?

Farmland preservation is a viable strategy to deter future increases in truck traffic and protect the Lehigh Valley’s air quality and quality of life

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that we have a serious warehouse problem in the Lehigh Valley.  As warehouses have proliferated throughout the region, they have brought polluting and unsafe increases in truck traffic.

Not only do the big trucks clog traffic and bear down on you when you are driving on Routes 22 and 78, but increasingly they are damaging  secondary roads not designed to support heavy loads carried by huge trucks. Truck traffic is dangerous! We see mangled autos and overturned tractor trailers and think, “that could be me or someone I love.”

  • Warehouses and the development of farmland are compromising our air quality through truck traffic and traffic congestion. According to the American Lung Association, the Lehigh Valley has the 14th worst air quality in the nation.  They consistently give us an “F” rating for our air quality.

If you, like us, can’t imagine our region with TWICE the number of trucks we have today, join us today by advocating for funding farmland preservation.  Robust farmland preservation programs can protect us against future warehouse development and increases in truck traffic.

We can make Farmland Preservation the ethos of our region.  The need is urgent.  We need you to do two things:

  1.  Tell all candidates for public office you meet at the polls tomorrow, Tuesday May 16th, “Fund Farmland Preservation.”
  2.  Buy your tickets today the Sustain-a-Ball on June 17th.
