Meeting Notice: Board of Health at 6PM in Allentown

Ryan’s blog post on the connection between public health and community design touches upon the real sense of urgency for mobilizing support for a regional public health department. Indeed, public health cuts across a variety of regional issues, such as housing, transportation, and planning. And a regional public health entity is better poised to address these issues.

While the Lehigh Valley Board of Health is working toward the effort to establish the bi-county public health department, community support and input is needed, as Gerald Barron, the Board’s public health consultant, mentioned in his interview. For this reason (and many more), I encourage you to attend tonight’s Board of Health meeting. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. and is being held at the Lehigh County Government Center, 17 South Seventh Street in Allentown.
